New Delhi, February 16, 2008

For motorists paying cash at the toll plaza, waiting time to be limited to 10 minutes for the next 12 weeks, and further reduced to 5 to 7 minutes thereafter
Smart Tag users to continue to enjoy stop-free movement
Special scheme launched to transition users to Smart Tags for a stop-free transit through the toll plaza

DSC Limited, the developers of the state-of-the-art Delhi Gurgaon Expressway today announced a series of initiatives to drastically cut down on the waiting time and improve transit through the toll plaza.

Announcing this, Mr. Manhad Narula, Director, DSC Ltd. said, “We are committed to hassle free movement through the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway, and are today launching a series of initiatives to enable this”.

“The state-of-the-art Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway was designed keeping in mind the extensive deployment of futuristic technology to be able to handle high traffic volumes. In line with this, the majority of vehicles need to be on Smart Tags, a futuristic tolling technology which enables stop-free movement. Since the opening of the toll plaza, we have found the acquisition cost of the Smart Tags to be a barrier in the adoption of this. To address this, we are launching a promotion, wherein the acquisition cost on Smart Tags is being waived for all users till February 25, 2008. As a major step, 50% concession is now being offered to Smart Tag buyers under the daily users (SMARTEXPRESS) plan and other benefits are being enhanced significantly. Once, a majority of users are on Smart Tags, it will enable a stop-free movement for them, and a much reduced waiting time for users paying cash”.

“Since the transition will take time, for the users paying cash, we will ensure that no one has to wait beyond 10 minutes for the next 12 weeks. To meet this commitment traffic would be regulated as per the local situation. With the adoption of Smart Tags, we envisage that the waiting time for cash users will further get reduced to an average 5 to 7 minutes”.

The series of initiatives being undertaken include:

A promotion until the 25th February wherein the cost of acquisition of Smart Tags has been waived off
Monthly Concession Pass owners can switch to Smart Tags without any additional cost, however for which they would need to visit the 24km Toll Plaza
The acquisition cost paid by the existing Smart Tag and Contact Card users will be adjusted against toll charges. In effect we will refund the security deposit through usage.
For daily users (SMARTEXPRESS customers), a 50% concession on applicable toll rates is offered, which will now have a 30 days validity instead of the earlier calendar month cycle.
Company owned vehicles will now be treated as private vehicles, and therefore be able to avail 50% concession on applicable toll rates on SMARTEXPRESS plan.
Smart Tags can be purchased from a number of outlets in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida besides the Toll Plaza

The 34% Concession on applicable toll rates is also available for Routine Commercial Vehicles on Smart Tags. This offer is only available to Light Commercial Vehicles. The Light Commercial Vehicles are also required to register for MCD Entry Fee Monthly Pass at specially designated counters at the point of sale at toll plazas.

The Delhi Gurgaon Expressway features world class technology and facilities and has Asia’s 2nd and one of the World’s Largest Toll Plazas at Km 24 with 32 Lanes. This 6/8 lanes 28Km long Expressway having 9 Flyovers provides a free and smooth access to more than 1 Million commuters approx. in 5 Lakh Vehicles every day as against only around 1,20,000 vehicles which pass the KM 24 Toll Plaza. What is a Smart Tag?

A Smart Tag is an electronic device, the size of a computer mouse, which is installed on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror of your vehicle. It is charged with the denomination of your choice and has the capability of interacting with sensors placed at the toll gates. Which means that all you have to do is to slow down to 20 Km/hr (you don’t have to stop) near the toll gates, the sensor at the gates interact with your Smart Tag, the transaction is recorded and the toll deducted, you hear a confirmation beep inside your car and you’re off. All of this takes less than a second and is extremely convenient to commuters and the best way to do away with waiting periods at the toll gates. Designated lanes for Smart Tag holders have been created to ensure a hassle drive through.

The Smart Tags will be available for commuters under two different plans:
