Located in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the Kutehr Hydel Project has been envisaged with the purpose of exploiting the potential in the upper reaches of Ravi River. The project involves the construction of a barrage across Ravi river about 4 Km downstream of Holi Village, a head regulator, a desilting basin to divert power draft of 109 cumecs through a 15.00 Km long head race tunnel ending in a 18 mtr diameter surge shaft, one pressure shaft of 4.80 mtr dia, tribifurcating further to generate 260 MW (3 X 86.67 MW) of power in an underground power house near village Suhaga about 1 km upstream of Kharamukh village.
It is proposed that the power generated from the project will be transmitted through a 400 KV double circuit transmission line at a cost of INR 45 cr apx which will be 23 Km long from Kutehr power house to Hibra (Chamera III) power.
